Research Publications of Kampo Formulas
Honso formulas are clinical-proven and evidence-based. Chinese herbal formulas are regulated as pharmaceutical prescription drugs in Japan. Since the 1960's, Japanese researchers have gradually validated Kampo formulas with laboratory and clinical studies. Hundreds of research papers have been published in peer-reviewed scientific journals. Honso products such as Sho-Saiko-To (Xiao Chai Hu Tang, H09) are in clinical trials for liver diseases at New York Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and UCSD Liver Center. Many of the granular and soft gel formulas are based on classical Chinese texts and have been applied to modern day conditions. It is the combination of time tested formulas, modern research analysis, and highly effective dosage method that makes Honso's products truly unique.
